Workplace Success Skills Workshop is for school leavers, undergrads, job seekers, new  employees, supervisors and all those who want to improve their career prospects and gain promotions by cultivating skills necessary to succeed in the modern workplace.

If you want to stand out from the crowd at work and be recognised as having leadership potential, this workshop is for you. 

Workshop Objectives

Are you looking for work? Are you a new employee, getting used to the world of work? Do you want a promotion? 

The objectives of the Workplace Success Skills Workshop are to:

  • Help you understand the importance of cultivating Workplace Success Skills; 
  • Help you find out how good your Workplace Success Skills are;
  • Help you how to improve your weak areas  with a Success Skills Development Plan;
  • Give opportunities in the workshop to cultivate Workplace Success Skills with individual and group exercises; and
  • Help you develop a professional image that would help you quickly climb up the career ladder.

Duration

10+ hours over 5 weeks, conducted online in 2 hour sessions over consecutive Saturdays.

Dates

Introductory Session on 16 September 2023. 

Workshops 02 to 05 on 23 September, 07, 14 and 21st October 2023.

Medium and Platform

Conducted in English, on an online platform such as Zoom and/or Google Meet.

What You Will Learn

Workshop Session 01 – Introduction to Workplace Success Skills 

The introductory session discusses careers, finding careers and explains the importance of cultivating Workplace Success Skills. 

  • Do you want a job or a career?
  • Do you know what careers are right for you?
  • Where can you find more information?
  • Things You Should Not Do in Choosing a Career 
  • What are Workplace Success Skills and why do they matter?
  • How good are your Workplace Success Skills? Find out how you fare with a self evaluation questionnaire on 40+ Workplace Success Skills. 
  • Identify which Workplace Success Skills you need to develop first.

Workshops 02 to 05

In the Workshop Session 2 to 5, you will be able to learn about 40+ Success Skills including:

  • 12 Basic Workplace Success Skills
  • 14 Success Skills for Working With Others
  • 10 Executive Success Skills
  • 10 Customer Oriented Success Skills & Skills that ensure Personal Wellbeing

Methodology

  • This is an interactive workshop, with individual and group work, questionnaires and presentations by participants.
  • The workshop will discuss workplace success skills with examples and ideas on how to develop them.
  • Some skills will be developed during the workshops through activities.
  • Each session has follow up activities and an assignment to be completed for the next session.
  • Every participant will create a Skill Development Plan.

Resource Person

Nilooka Dissanayake, ACMA, MBA (Strathclyde)

Nilooka became a trainer after working at BDO Burah Hathy, PwC in Colombo and Wellington, New Zealand and with Brown & Company Limited as its first Manager Corporate Planning. 

Nilooka is a seasoned trainer with two decades of training experience for clients including HSBC Sri Lanka & MAS Group, Unilever Fair & Lovely Foundation, JASTECA Institute of Management, People’s Bank, NSB and the Securities and Exchange Commission of Sri Lanka.

She conducts training workshops in both Sinhala and English, and specializes in Personal Development, Personal Finances (Financial Literacy), Supervisory, Management and Leadership Development. 

As the Managing Editor of Athwela Vyaparika Sangarawa, Sri Lanka’s first magazine targeting small and medium enterprises, she has also conducted training sessions on Entrepreneurship, Financial Management of SMEs and Business Development Strategies. 

As a journalist, Nilooka has contributed columns to Daily News (Starting a Small Business), Sunday Times FT (Business@Home), The Island (www.internet.for.everyone) and Divaina (www.apa.semata.internet).

Since 2009, she has been working on Upwork, an outsourcing platform as a ghostwriter.

Workshop Fees

  • Registration Fee – Rs. 2,000 (payable by 14th September, before Introductory session)
  • Workshop Fees – Rs. 6,000 (payable by 20th September)

Payment Details

Payment details will be sent by email and Whatsapp group once you fill in the INFO Form online.

 How to Register

Step 01: Fill in the INFO FORM at this link providing basic details.
Make sure to add a working email address that you check often.

Step 02: Check the email acknowledgement sent. It contains the invitation link to join the Course Whatsapp Group.
Payment details will be available in the Whatsapp Group Info section.
Ask any questions you have can be raised in the Whatsapp Group.

Step 03: Make your payment to the given bank account and forward your receipt by email to businesstrainersrilanka@gmail.com. Do not share bank details on Whatsapp Group.

Step 04: You will be asked to fill a detailed questionnaire to find out about your training needs and other details. Please fill it.

Step 05: On the day of training, you will be sent the link to your email address using your email. You will be reminded of the training via the Whatsapp Group as well.
