What do you want to do now, after finishing Advanced Levels?

I have asked this of dozens of school leavers.

“I don’t know”

“I am not sure”

“Must think about it”

“Need to find something easy”

“What do you think I should do?”

I am constantly surprised by the number of school leavers who are unaware of their desired career path. And I have been thinking about this, as I prepare for the Workplace Success Skills Online Workshop.

That is why I created a stand-alone workshop: What Career Is Right For Me? My hope is that school leavers who are unsure about their future path would join it and that it would make their choices more informed, and easier.

When I left school there weren’t too many options if you were not going to university, by choice (like I was) or because you did not make the cut. Of the many thousands sitting for local Advanced Levels each year, the majority are unable to gain admission. Many just miss the cut off marks, not because they failed the exam.

What happens to them? What happens to you, if you are in that group?

Many people enter the workforce. Others follow various courses, diplomas and online and offline degrees from foreign universities. Those who can afford to go overseas do so. Others must find something to do. And I believe the majority of people are in this group.

This article series is for them. Whether you get admission to a government university or follow another path, I will discuss the different career paths and job options that are open for you.

In particular, I will cover the following areas, just to show you that there are many job prospects than you ever imagined.
